Jolly Phonics Workshop in Aswad School


 English Language teachers in Aswad School have two days workshop for Teaching literacy with Jolly Phonics. The workshop was with the collaboration with the trainer specialist in Ibri training Center. It aimed to give a definition of what is Jolly Phonics and how does it work and the five skills taught in it. 
On Sunday 29th of November 2015 Mr Donald Sergant the trainer specialist started the workshop by giving a definition of what is Jolly phonics. He said " Jolly Phonics is a way to teach children literacy in a fun way. It is a child centered approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. "


Then he gave them the sound as taught in a specialist order. The teachers were trained to classify the sounds and practice the actions to memorize them. Mr Said Al-Hatmi the trainer specialist in Ibri Training Center for Professional Development gave an idea of how does Jolly Phonics work. .. 

The Second day was a practical and the teachers watched Mr Donald teaching a lesson for grade 2. 




























After the lesson there were a whole discussion about what they have learnt from the workshop.



By the end of the workshop , the teachers thanked Mr Donald Sergant and Mr Said Al-Hatmi and Mr Fahad Al-Hatmi for their hard work and great effort . They said that they got a great opportunity to attend this workshop
